In 1852, she became the wife of a multi-millionaire Prussian count, who let her build this “Hôtel de la Païva”. The mansion’s interior boasts Italian Renaissance architecture with a hanging garden, a yellow onyx staircase, Dante, Virgil, and Petrarch statues, allegorical frescoes on the walls, and a Jerome-painted ceiling.
