Private Wine Tasting in Paris

In Paris, wine is not something reserved for restaurants and cellar doors. It belongs to the everyday art de vivre, to long conversations around a low table, to a bottle opened simply because the evening deserves one. It is one of the most French subjects there is, and one of the most difficult to approach as a visitor.

This is why we are delighted to introduce a new addition to our Paris portfolio: a private tasting hosted by a wine expert and journalist whose work appears in Wine Enthusiast, JancisRobinson.com and GuildSomm, three of the most respected names in international wine writing. He is also the publisher of B.Y.O.B., an independent wine magazine based in New York.

You taste in his own apartment overlooking the Luxembourg Gardens. It is the kind of evening usually reserved for colleagues in the trade: a professional palate, a serious selection, and the unhurried conversation of someone who has spent years writing about exactly what is in your glass.

An Elegant Addition to Your Time in Paris

The setting is a private apartment in the 6th arrondissement, a few steps from the Luxembourg Gardens and the Odéon. You are welcomed as a guest rather than a customer: glasses on the table, artisanal charcuterie and seasonal accompaniments, and an unhurried two hours in the company of someone who has spent years travelling France’s vineyards.

Five French wines and artisanal snacks served at a private Paris tasting

Over the course of the evening you taste five French wines from different regions, and the conversation moves naturally between the glass and the map. Why does origin shape style so decisively in France? What does a label actually tell you? How do the winemaker’s decisions show up in what you are drinking?

Most tastings travel through the Loire Valley, Burgundy and Bordeaux, with Champagne and other benchmark regions appearing along the way. The aim is not to memorise appellations. It is to leave with a clearer instinct for choosing wine, in a Parisian wine bar or at home, long after the trip is over.

What Makes This Experience Different

Paris offers no shortage of wine tastings. Very few of them take place in someone’s home, with a host who writes about wine for an international audience and pours from his own cellar.

There is no script and no fixed running order. The evening follows the interests of the guests around the table, which is only possible because the group is yours alone. It is private access in the most literal sense: an address that is not open to the public, shared with you for one evening.

Two Formats

Five French wines served at a private Paris tasting

Discover

An introductory journey through the key wine regions of France. An ideal format for a first serious encounter with French wine, and equally rewarding for those who already drink attentively and want to deepen their understanding.

  • Tasting of five French wines from different regions
  • Artisanal snacks and accompaniments
  • Duration: 2 hours

Signature

A tasting designed entirely around your interests. We can focus on a single region, a single grape variety, a particular style, or one producer you admire, and we can build a vertical tasting for those who want to follow a wine across vintages.

Guests have explored the lesser-known corners of Champagne, compared Burgundy from several neighbouring communes in a single sitting, and tasted five Bordeaux vintages side by side to see how time reshapes a wine.

  • Tasting of five wines selected according to your preferences
  • Artisanal snacks and accompaniments
  • Duration: 2 hours

Your Host

Your hist has spent more than five years with wine at the centre of his life: tasting, reading, travelling and talking with winemakers across France. Over the years he has visited dozens of estates in the country’s principal regions and built relationships with some of its most respected producers.

Alongside his work for Wine Enthusiast, JancisRobinson.com, GuildSomm and his own magazine B.Y.O.B., he is currently studying for the WSET Diploma, one of the most demanding international qualifications in the wine world.

Tastings are hosted in English, French, or Russian.
