Do you like art? Do you dream of discovering new places and contemporary artists? Want to understand what contemporary art is about? And how it differs from modern art?  How does one understand contemporary art, what is its value, and why is the expression ‘I could do that too’ not always true?

Paris has some of the finest museums in the world, but it also hosts the best galleries with a worldwide reputation. We invite you to discover the world of contemporary art by visiting the most important galleries in the Saint-Germain-des-Prés area with a guide – art critic and art expert.

It was here in Saint‑Germain‑des‑Prés that Picasso painted his world-famous Guernica, where Serge Polyakov played guitar and painted at night, where Georges Braque and Jean Cocteau sketched passers-by sitting at the tables of Café La Palette. Since the era of les années folles (‘the roaring 20s’) and to this day, writers, philosophers, musicians and artists form the artistic and intellectual reputation of Rue de Seine.

On our walk we cover different topics:

– Historical context: the capital of the world at the beginning of the 20th century. Why artists and collectors came to Paris.

– the emergence of modern and contemporary trends, distinctive features and main names in the art world.

– the most famous artists of the Second School of Paris and the main trendsetters at modern art auctions.

– Saint-Germain-des-Prés and its residents: artists, collectors and gallery owners.

We meet in the heart of bohemian Paris in the square of Saint-Germain-des-Prés. Together we then visit the most interesting galleries on Rue de Seine – a must-visit of any collector and art dealer. You can get acquainted with the Parisian gallery owners, who not only love to talk about art, but also to show their works. After our walk we will go for a coffee / aperitif to the cafe where Picasso, Braque and Beigbeder used to have their lunch, and where now the gallery owners are dining, so that you can find out all the hottest news in the art world.

Our art tours are never the same. Gallery exhibitions change every month and we always stay up-to-date with all the art world news and tailor each tour in advance to make it vibrant, interesting for both our new and returning guests.

The art tour is available in mini-groups (maximum of 6 people) or could be taken individually. Tell us about your interests and we will make your Parisian art experience unforgettable.
